Growth, Growth & Growth!!!

Default Image

What do these words mean to you?

To me they mean a whole new arena of opportunities, better prospects, more responsibilities, revenue growth and bigger and happier teams.

Although I was witnessing the transition on a daily basis, I was pretty pleased to hear it from Avinash in the All Hands meet held at our office late last week that the recession fever is over for us and we are now geared up for expansion.

I guess this was the transition that was long awaited. It is pleasing to think on new approaches for Talent Acquisition rather than Cost Optimization strategies. Looks simple but it needs a complete makeover of thought process and approach.

Few applauding announcements included increase in 20% of the workforce in next two months and commencement of this year’s Fiscal Financial review from January itself. What better could we expect? Now it is the time to hit the ground hard and make best use of this opportunity.

I am really looking forward to it.

Offshoring: Two more reasons why India remains a winner

Default Image

We live in interesting days of global round-the-clock work – courtesy offshoring. What makes offshoring so successful in India? When I googled on this topic, I got 16,700,000 results back…go figure. Everyone has a view about this, it seems.

But I came across a couple of interesting points when I was taking an interview for our Director of Delivery position, I was discussing with a potential candidate about how software development centers in India are high-stress zones and how we are so good at outsourcing:

a)India is one giant socialistic environment – the “chai” outings anywhere between 2-10 times a day, the “masti”, jokes and gossip in our own very local language – down to not just the state but to the region – “Indori” in our case. The local, regional, state-wide and national level festivals – which if combined together will probably make it twice or more a month feature. What does all this do? Are you kidding – It’s a huge stress buster. How else would people survive otherwise?

b)Indian lineage is that of flexibility and evolution – … Read More

Representing InfoBeans at SVIM

Default Image

I got an opportunity to deliver a 3 hour talk at SVIM, Indore on the emerging trends in IT and career development for MBA/MCA students.

The format for the discussion was a pure question and answer one. The questions were sent to me a day earlier by the students and faculty. It was an intellectually stimulating discussion with the entire 250+ group. We touched upon various topics relating to the IT industry in India and the world over and also on what career opportunities does the IT industry provide for MBA/MCA graduates.

My sincere thanks to the administration at SVIM for allowing me to come and speak. I enjoyed the discussion a lot and I hope the students enjoyed in equal measure.

Check out the pictures in Naidunia and Dainik Bhaskar today.

InfoBeans.com moves to Drupal CMS

Default Image

So we have been able to move our corporate website to Drupal. It has been on the cards for a long time and our team got together to make it happen. Thanks to all who were involved – Amol, Prafful, Amit and their team.

Moving www.infobeans.com to Drupal was not something that we decided on a whim. We had some clear goals in mind.

Making our website search engine friendly or SEO Providing flexibility to our non technical team to change our content easily and efficiently Create a knowledge repository that is easy to manage Hosting our own blogs (we were previously on WordPress) and therefore getting more control over templates, content blocks and features

We have not changed the design much, though there are some navigational elements that have been added. Another key feature is the integration of our twitter feed. Follow @infobeans on twitter to get the latest real time news on what’s happening at InfoBeans.

Nasscom Mentorship program – must do!

Default Image

Yesterday, Avinash and I had the good fortune to be part of the Nasscom mentorship program. No, we were not the mentors, we were being mentored. Sanjiv Aggarwal (Helion Ventures, founder Daksh) and Rajiv Puri (ex CEO JobsAhead.com).

The session lasted for almost two hours and we got a wealth of insights from these two gentlemen on how to grow businesses. There were some pointed observations from them that made us look up and take notice.

I must thank both of them, not only for their invaluable time, but mostly for their cutting edge evaluation of where we stand, what we need to do and their implicit stimulus to goad us into achieving more.

I must also thank Nasscom and specially Avinash Raghava for organizing this in such a professional manner. Everything was arranged well with extreme professionalism and it shows what a great organization Nasscom is.

My organization looks forward to contributing in larger measures to the Nasscom initiatives in the times to come.

We will be taking up the advice that our mentors have given us very seriously … Read More

This post has nothing to do with software, but very relevant to services of all kinds. Read about how Ritz Carlton takes it beyond just customer delight. They work on customer anticipation and employee liberation. I am surely going to test this out someday 🙂
