Automation aced to weather the storm that the world suffered during the pandemic, it was a savior that empowered organizations to maintain business continuity and uplift team morale while they work remotely. With the breakthrough that the technology has offered so far, there are a lot of speculations about the coming year. The blog reflects on some of the trends that automation will foresee in 2022.

Automation has gained a lot of traction over the past few years with organizations turning to the technology for a range of use cases. This has proved incredibly fruitful for those industries that typically have very structured and logical processes. Even Robotic Process Automation has been a trending technology that saves time, money and allows human workers to devote more time to productive activities by deploying bots for repetitive tasks.

Let us go through a few of the trends that will unleash as 2022 progresses

Cloud-Native – To realize its true potential, automation technology needs to be simpler and more accessible, and this means cloud-based using technologies such as containers and microservices. RPA vendors need to move their solutions to a cloud model to reach larger markets and leverage AI-based technologies to enhance their solutions. Cloud-native platforms enable customers to consume and instantly scale their automation infrastructure seamlessly and are critical for organizations that experience seasonal peaks and troughs.

Hyperautomation – As per our previous blog, Hyperautomation – The new wave of automation, we predicted Hyperautomation to be trending in 2021 and we predict the same for 2022 too. Hyperautomation is based on the concept that if a process can be automated, then it should be automated. 2022 will witness organizations of various sizes and industries marching ahead with automating processes saving a lot of manpower, time and cost.  Organizations will unlock productivity, accelerate time‑to‑market, and transform employee and customer experiences with Hyperautomation.

Customer Support Chatbot – Chatbots had been transforming business-customer interaction for years. In 2022 and future years, chatbots for customer support are expected to take the centre stage as more and more businesses are deploying them in their websites to boost customer engagement. They’re not only available 24/7, but they can also seamlessly interact with every website visitor, offering zero waiting time.

Intelligent Automation – Jobs like scanning an invoice, reading an email, deciding to approve a loan application, or communicating with a customer require automation with intelligence. And as the organizations are in the process of automating tasks that require human intelligence, intelligent automation will become the need of the hour. Unlike RPA, which takes the robot out of the human, intelligent automation will put the humans back into the robot.

Use of AI/ML – Leading-edge companies are using automation with AI and Machine learning (ML) as the front lines of actions, decision-making, and analysis. In the year ahead, the focus will shift towards asking automation CoE teams to expand the scope beyond process automation and cover AI and ML deployment.

Technology is moving at a rapid pace, and it’s difficult to know which emerging technologies to pin your hopes on. However, automation capabilities will make sure your processes help grow your business and will become the norm by 2025.
